Background

Dutton/Dunwich Minor Ball (DDMB) and the Municipality of Dutton/Dunwich formed a Diamonds Improvement Committee in 2023 to address ongoing infrastructure issues at the baseball diamonds at the Sons of Scotland Park in Dutton.

The committee outlined the following priorities to be completed prior to the start of the 2024 season:

  • Phase 1 - Replace the Backstops & dugouts, increase infield size on Diamond 1 and Diamond 2
  • Phase 2 - Replace the Backstop & construct dugouts, and clay lined infield on Diamond 3.

Funds Raised to Date
A budget of approximately $150, 000 has been allocated to complete both Diamonds 1 & 2.

Funds have been secured to complete Phase 1 of this program.  In May of 2024 construction on Diamond #1 was fully completed in May 2024. Backstops & dugouts on Diamond #2 were completed in October 2024, with infield expansion to be completed by May 2025.

Phase 2 fundraising for Diamond #3 has begun. Phase 2 - Diamond 3 includes the following:

  • Remove existing backstop, and replace with taller and wider backstop
  • construct dugouts, with concrete base and roof
  • construct foul line fencing and safety netting
  • regrade infield and construct infield as clay-lined diamond

Ongoing Fundraising
The committee is still working tirelessly to secure the remaining funds needed to complete Diamond 3.
